Mobile Sound Unit was spawned out of my interest in sound exploration, stemming from the TV Tape experiments and from my friend Jason (aka sophrosyne), who let me use his midi equipment. Up until then I was using old Casio keyboards and guitar. I ended up buying some samplers and drum machines and took about a year of playing around until I was producing music that I found decent enough to put out.

A New Orleans native, I moved to Milwaukee in 1997 and soon started playing with Jason Weitisplach. We formed the new incarnation of Castle Broadway in which I played guitar along with all my other gear, which was spreading me a little thin. Field of Sound was created as a side project for Jason W. and myself to be a more intimate, spacious version of Castle Broadway. With Field of Sound, there was more room for processed sound and tweaked beats and it still kept the improvisational aspect still intact.

With other growing influences, I needed another avenue of output different from the other projects. Enter Mobile Sound Unit. The project is under constant development, changing every few months into something a little different.
